Sooooo, we are in Vegas but it's not nearly as exciting as it should be.
The bus ride up was kinda wild...well for the other people not for us. Brian warned us up front that the back of the bus is where the hardcore partying happened so we stayed up front. God it made me feel so damn old. Everyone was drinking and hooting and hollering it was a little ridiculous. At one point everyone ran out of beer and I was grateful, but then they stopped to refuel and give everyone a smoke break and everyone ran to the conveiniece store across the street and loaded up.
We got to Lake Havasu late due to traffic so the bus ended up dropping us all of at the gig rather than the hotel...So it was kinda sucky. The place they were playing wasn't a bar but there was one across the street that served food so a bunch of us ran over there to eat and have drinks. Everyone was STARVING after being on a bus for five hours with only chips and beer. The show was okay. I danced with the old bus driver, it was funny.
Today we were on the road by eleven thirty and after about three hours we got to the Days Inn downtown in Vegas. This is easily the smallest hotel room we have ever set foot in. Even smaller that that first time in Laughlin. And for some stupid reason, the band booked all these rooms as non smoking so we have to go outside to smoke...and most of the people on the bus smoke. Weird.
It's laughable. The TV is so old that there is no remote! And the phone is so old that the line is wired into the back. It is lucky that we brought a phone line that I could plug in to the jack. You know me and my internet.
Today after check in we walked over to the El Cortez to get players cards and to see if it was as bad as everyone says. It's not by the way, it's just like any other downtown casino except it's more secluded and in a bad part of town. We got some cards and then Rob went off to change some 20's into fives while I hung out near a display case. A few seconds later some creepy looking dude came over to the display and set his stuff down on it. I didn't make eye contact but all of a sudden I heard a very raspy voice say: "You're pretty."
I look up and see a scraggly looking guy with a tube in his neck staring at me. I smiled and said thank you before trying to look somewhere else(anywhere else!) He started to say something to the effect of that he had been with 35 something or others(it was really hard to understand what he was saying) so he knew pretty, and I was really pretty. I smiled again and said thanks again and then he said something I thought was odd given that he had just complimented me. He shrugged and said: "Hey, at least I'm honest." To me that would be something you say after you say something derogatory to someone. At any rate Rob finished at the cash cage and we took off. He said he saw the guy approach me and was keeping an eye on us in the reflection of the glass. He said he saw me smile at him and thought it was okay. Either way it gave me the wiggins. I'm sure he was just a nice old guy that thought he would brighten my day but I'm way to suspicious of people.
After El Cortez we headed across the street to a place called Mamacita's and loaded up on food to cheat on our diet. We got nachos, fried bananas, french fries, chicken fingers, rice and beans, a steak sandwich, a triple decker grilled cheese, and I think one more thing for Rob but I can't remember what it was. Oh it was heavenly...obviously we haven't eaten it all but I was sooooo starving that I had felt miserable and after a bunch of food in my tummy I felt way better.
Now we are just kicking around the room a bit. The group is getting on the bus around nine to go to the show but Rob and I are going to cab it later since we can't see hanging around to see a bunch of bands we don't know until Brian's band goes on.
That is all I've got right now, I will post pics later. Right now I think it's time to hop in the shower and relax a little more before it's time to go.
